I was pleased to see that Paul Brisebois and his supporters made a presentation to City Hall regarding the perils and risks of fluoridated water.
The information about fluoride is getting out there. One only has to Google the Internet and you will find many, many valid reasons for avoiding fluoride in water, beverages and toothpaste.
Basically, fluoride is a slow killer, and causes a deterioration of health over the long term, and does nothing to improve the health of one’s teeth. Fluoride, a bye product of the fertilizer and aluminum industries, has made a lot of wealthy families very rich, including the powerful Mellon family in the U.S. Why dispose of an industrial waste product when you can sell it to municipalities and toothpaste companies and make a bundle.
I think most dentists have stopped peddling fluoride treatments although one can never be sure. So, why did they use them in the first place if fluoride is harmful?
If you still put your trust in medical professionals to make your decisions for you, let me remind you of an advertisement that appeared on television in the late 50’s when I was growing up. The advertisement, which you can find on Youtube, shows a doctor in a white coat lighting up a cigarette, taking a deep puff.
The sad part about that story is that a lot of people started smoking because of those ads- and they may still be smoking today!
Bottom line here is to maintain a healthy skepticism about what our ‘authorities’ tell us, and verify the accuracy of what we are being made to swallow- and that includes fluoride.
I am looking forward over the next few weeks to see what City administration is going to recommend to council. Will the report be based on the status quo from the Eastern Ontario Health Unit, or will it be a thoroughly researched and independent report outlining some healthier options for our drinking water here in Cornwall?
